Sure, a gin & tonic is known as a summer cocktail, but can you enjoy one in the winter? Of course. Add some warm, toasty flavours to a simple cocktail to step up your winter cocktail game.
- 1-1/2 oz of gin
1-1/2 oz of fig vanilla syrup* (recipe below)
- soda water
- lemon and fig slices for garnish
Stir Tonic Syrup, gin, and fig vanilla syrup with ice in a mixing glass until cold, about 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled glass with fresh ice. Top with soda water, and garnish with a slice each of lemon and fig.
Recipe - Fig Vanilla Syrup
- 6 fresh figs, stems removed and halved
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or scrape the seeds from 1 vanilla bean)
Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes or until figs break down. Allow to cool, and strain using a fine mesh strainer.
